On Healing Hands.
“Our illnesses, physical aches and pains & even injuries have an emotional cause. An accident is almost always a way for your subconscious mind to give a sign to your conscious mind. And that includes pains or accidents related to your hands and fingers.” ~
Healing Hands : Body-Mind Connection
I have found this to be true in my personal life as well as in my Reiki practice. For you to learn more on the topic, I highly recommend Louise L. Hay’s book, You Can Heal Your Life. *
Problems You Are Holding On To
Problems with the hands are represented emotionally by "Hold & handle. Clutch & grip. Grasping & letting go. Caressing. Pinching. All ways of dealing with experiences."
Louise Hay would say that in general, fingers represent the details of life, while each finger represents a different type of emotional issue in this context:
Thumb: Intellect, something related to the mind, most of the time worry.
Index finger: related to ego and fear.
Middle finger: Sexuality or anger, or both. When you are angry, Louise Hay suggest you hold your middle finger and watch the anger dissolve. Hold your right finger if you are angry at a man, and your left finger if you are angry at a woman.
Ring finger: Concern with unions and grief.
Little finger: Related to family and pretending .
Learning How to Let Go of Problems
Useful Affirmations
Self-healing involved communication with the subconscious mind. ( I wish they would teach the power of the subconscious mind in primary school. This would result in many more healthy, successful and happy people. And it would help them study more efficient. ~ but that’s a topic for another day…)
Meanwhile, let us learn this today: our subconscious mind listens to our thoughts and does it best to realize this. That’s why I usually make my Reiki clients aware of what Louise Hay would have to say about their physical problems and encourage them to reflect on that and subsequently actively adopt new thought patterns by positive self-talk and doing affirmations.
New Thought Patterns
Affirmations are related to new thought patterns that could help heal problems with the hands/fingers (presented by Louise L. Hay):
Hands: "I choose to handle all my experiences with love and with joy and with ease."
All fingers: "I am peaceful with the details of life."
Thumb finger: "My mind is at peace."
Index finger: "I am secure."
Middle finger: "I am comfortable with my sexuality."
Ring finger: "I am peacefully loving."
Little finger: "I am myself with the family of life."
So, next time you cut, bruise, burn or hurt any of your fingers, note which finger it is and which emotional issues that (might) relate to. Relax, let go of those issues consciously and subconsciously by practicing some affirmations. Observe how you feel after that and what happens to the pain, bruise or whatever it was that hurt you. Becoming conscious of the power of positive thinking/affirmations is empowering!
Healing Books & Resources
* No other healing book has helped me as much as this very book, You Can Heal Your Life, which I have had for decades and reference it daily/weekly. I bought several copies to lend to clients and friends. To the point now that I don’t lend out my book any longer but refer people to this link here, to buy their own copy so they can reference it for many years to come and love the book as much as I do.
See my list (aka digital library) of healing books for other books you might like to own/borrow. These days you can get access to healing information in so many ways, and so cheaply too!! Did you know that with Amazon Prime you get to ‘borrow’ a whole bunch of digital and read them FREE OF CHARGE?!! And did you know that the Kindle book versions can be read on many other devices besides Kindle. Check out if those inexpensive Kindle books could work for you.
Last but not least, the Heal Your Life | Hay House affirmation cards make great (Christmas) gifts (hint!). For yourself!

I trust this article on healing your hands is of benefit to all of you who are reading this. Writing it was inspired by not one but two people today: I just learned that a friend broke her little finger and this afternoon I will have a distant reiki client who has problems with her ring finger.
