The first few hour(s) after the occurance of new moon are the very best time to set down your intentions, wishes & vision for the upcoming month. I do this verbatim, every month, and even have a vision board to represent my inner most desires, wishes and vision for my life.

Some people make their New Moon Vision Boards entirely from magazine clippings, like a collage. Other are made entirely from sticky notes, while others are text embellished with roses, hearts, flowers, spirals, circles and other meaning symbols.

I do and I’m glad that I do, as I see evidence of ‘magic’ (read ‘synchronicity by Divine intervention’) everywhere I go and look.

Today, I am completely rewriting my Reiki Empowerment Manual and it has taken up most of my day. Meanwhile, it is my intend to write more often (daily?) on this blog, so I need a quick and easy story to write for this evening. Then, ‘by pure chance’, I came across the perfect topic for an article today: random acts of kindness.

I was reminded of a situation in my business consulting years. Around the corner from the office, was the Hermes shop. Anybody who has heard of that brand, knows that whatever they have in there is both gorgeous and outrageously expensive. One Saturday, after having worked yet again an entire day overtime in the office, I decided it was time for a treat. When you work that hard, you deserve some pleasure, right?!

So, I went in the (ah-wow) Hermes store and asked the young lady behind the counter which ones were her favorite earrings. I figured this would be a good start looking for my personal extravaganza.

Well, the question changed her entire face and demeanor. She knew the answer. Walking straight to a particular drawer, she picked out a particular pair. Then she went on to tell me why these were the most gorgeous earrings in the shop. I was struck by the purity of her enthusiasm. She meant it, she absolutely adored these earrings, and could not stop talking about them.

She was right! They were beautiful, so I bought the earrings, these little over-the-top luxury indulgences. This was a huge treat!! To top it all of, I asked her to wrap them the best that she could as they were a present. She did and the present looked immaculate as she handed it to me. I smiled, said ‘Thank you’.

Then, gave it back to her.

I can’t remember the earrings, but I can remember her astonished and delighted reaction. Years later, when I had my own consulting practice, a client relayed me the story, now from the other side. When he confirmed that indeed it had been me in that Hermes store, he shared that the young girl in the shop had been his niece. I can’t recall all details, but her ‘lucky Saturday’ event seemed to have impacted her enough to decipher my name from my credit card bill and inspire her entire family with the story.

All I hoped for was her happy heart, but am thankful for her sharing. Because this is how random acts of kindness multiply.

Basic Chinese Astrology

In Chinese astrology, there is a sixty-year-cycle that consists of two sub-cycles.

The first cycle is the cycle of the ‘Heavenly Stem’, which rotates the elements of water, earth, fire, metal and wood, every two years. The first of these two years is yang, the next year is yin.

The second cycle of the ‘Earthly Branch’ rotates the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac signs: i.e. rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar.

What this means is that not all Ox-years are the same. In 2009, it will be a Year of the Ox, an Earth-year and a Yin-year.

The zodiac sign of the Ox (or cow or buffalo) symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. The major element in Ox is Earth. So it being the “Earth Ox”- year, the major focus in 2009 will be the earth/land/ground-related issues. I would say … root chakra!!! (oh,will I ever get away from this emphasis ….??!! I want to focus on my higher level chakras instead!!… ). And I’d say: WORLD HEALING is VITAL.

Yin represents the feminine principle of the yin/yang balance.

Earth is the land and the ground under our feet. The ground is very steady. It requires lots of energy to make it move. Certainly, it’s necessary that people put extra efforts and time to work on Earth-related problems.

Chinese astrology says the Earth season is the days between the seasons, i.e. the 18 days before each season. The Earth Cycle will repeat about every two and a half month. The total Earth days in a year is 72. Because Fire is the mother element of Earth, it is said that the strongest period of Earth is the 18-day before the season of Fall.

So, I’d say that we should have an increased focus on ‘We Are One World Healing’, and get more people to work with us to help heal planet Earth. That seems very important.

Our Year of the Ox

OK. Let’s get our minds around a year of hard work, and get set to enjoy it. When I envision an ox, he’s carrying a wagon or a plow breaking new grounds, row after row, in a very organized manner. Single line, straight ahead.

I suggest we embrace the powers of the ox this year: methodical, strong, and focused (i.e. good-flavored ‘stubbornness’). I can be ox-like for a year, can you?

Chinese New Year: a New Moon, a New YOU.

At present we’re between the Western New Year (January 1), and the Chinese New Year (and the New Moon Day, January 26). Now is the time for change to bring more enlightenment and light in your life. And so, we should be ox-like in going for this.

What do you sense should be your direction & focus? Now is the time to get clarity about what you want and need in your life. What are your plans? Now is the time to finalize them in actionable detail.

It appears that the Year of the Earth Ox won’t allow you to dillydally. When the 26th of January comes around, we will be living in a time of by-passing the ‘I’m going to do it’-phase and plunge straight into ‘this is what I’m doing’-mode (although we do get 2 weeks easing into things…).

We Heal ‘Us’ and Help Eachother

While this is apparently not the ‘sit around and talk about it’- year, I feel that it nonetheless should be a year of helping each other, and encouraging each other, to be true to themselves and to focus on what is best for them.

In this last article on flying star feng shui for 2008, I continue to reveal how these flying stars affect every household and office. You will also learn more about Grand Duke Jupiter and the 3 Killings as well as feng shui enhancers and cures you can use to boost the good energy and disperse the negative ones.

Let’s continue with the west sector.

West

The 1 white star from period 8 amplifies the energy of the 3 argumentative jade star in the west sector. More legal issues, arguments, fights expected, which may be hard to resolve.

If you are not in sales or service line, you can hang a red banner in this sector to weaken the energy of this star.

Northwest

In this sector, 2 illness black star holds the position. This notorious star is known for creating respiratory and stomach related illnesses. Pay attention to this star especially for those with elderly at home.

This energy sapping star can also drain energy off from the occupant even after a night rest. Together with the 5 fearsome yellow star, these 2 stars are havoc creators, so don’t undermine they power.

Central

The relationship energy carries by the 1 white star is greatly diminished by that of the 8 auspicious wealth star from period 8. For those looking for a life long partner or have better interpersonal luck, then you should harness the energy of this sector.

Place water plant in this sector to boost the energy of 1 white star.

Grand Duke Jupiter

In 2008, the water nature Grand Duke Jupiter resides in the north. For those unaware of this powerful god of the land, let me share more information with you.

According to ancient text, the ruling Grand Duke Jupiter of the year is the presiding god, taking charge of all earthly issues. Every year, believers make offering to the grand duke hoping for a smooth and safe year ahead.

After 4th February 2008, there should not be any more renovation or construction activities in the northern sector of the house or office.

Those born under the Chinese zodiac sign of rat, goat, horse, rooster and rabbit are affected by the energy of the grand duke in 2008.

Those under the rat and horse zodiac are likely to suffer from poor wealth, relationship and love luck. Additionally, there are possibilities of suffering from cuts or sickness. The rat and horse will experience drastic changes in their lives this year.

Those born under the sign of goat and rooster may suffer from unstable relationship, poor career opportunity and wealth luck.

Those under the sign of rabbit suffer from poor career luck. As such, interpersonal relationship problems, especially with bosses and colleagues are expected to be poor.

One good way to diminish the inflicting energy of the grand duke is to donate blood. Do it after the 4th of February.

Do not sit and face north in 2008, no matter in the office or home. Doing so may offend the grand duke, resulting in more interpersonal disharmony.

The 3 Killings

Similar to the grand duke, the 3 killings change position every year. In 2008, the 3 killings reside in the South. Again, there should not be any more renovation or construction work after 4th February 2008 in the South sector of the house or office.

Any external construction work in the South can inflict the occupants with the negative energy of the 3 killings. This is also true for the case of the grand duke.

Those conflicting with the energy of the 3 killings may suffer from health related issues, like falling sick frequently, suffering from deteriorating health condition or meeting with accident. Office and study room located in the Southern sector of the house or building should be relocated. If not possible, then for the minimum, apply feng shui cures to weaken the energy.

Traditional way of resolving the negative energy of the 3 killings involves displaying 3 “Qi Lin” facing these clusters of energy. Since the 3 killings are 3 clusters of negative energy, hence the equal number of “Qi Lin” is needed. In 2008, this means the “Qi Lin” should face the South direction.

When discussing Feng Shui for 2008, probably you will be most interested to know how the flying stars affects the buildings most intimately linked to you: your home, office and perhaps your store, and I will discuss this now. The 6 heavenly white star is a military star. 6 heavenly white star is a wealth star, but due to its diminishing wealth energy, you will need to boost this position significantly to invoke the wealth energy.

In the ancient days, this was the governing star for the military forces only. However, in modern times, this is extended to include those in disciplined units and blue collar workers.

For those in any of these working groups, you should take advantage of this position to boost your career luck in 2008. Place metallic object here to bring up the energy of the heavenly white star.

Northeast
For business owners, parents with schooling children, scholars, this is the location to pay attention to.

Southwest
The 7 violent red star is of negative energy in nature. This star is known for creating violence, financial losses and gossip.

The earth energy from the 5 fearsome yellow star of period 8, add on to the metal energy of the 7 violent red star, to create dispute and poor diplomatic ties (and possible violent) between countries in this region.

West
The 3 argumentative jade star resides in the West direction in 2008. Fuel by the water elemental energy of the 1 white of period 8, brings more quarrels, disharmony and dispute to the western countries.

Northwest
In 2008, the 2 illness black star occupies this direction. Its interaction with the 9 multiplying purple star turns prosperity to sickness.

Travelers to Eastern Europe and Russia should take precautionary measures as this region tends to be the origin of epidemics in 2008.

Central
1 white star resides in the center of the flying stars feng shui for 2008. Rightfully, this should bring strong global economical growth. However, the earth energy from the 8 auspicious wealth star diminishes the energy of 1 white star.

On the whole, the global economy should still be reasonable promising in 2008. However, expect fluctuations in the property, finance and tourism industry over the months.

Let’s look at Feng Shui for 2008. I will use the Flying Stars Feng Shui technique as the basis for my prediction.

In the first 2 articles, I will discuss on the global outlook for 2008. In part 3 and 4, I will talk the effect of the flying stars on the 2 buildings most closely related to you: your home and office.

According to the Chinese calendar, 2008 is the year of the earth rat. What are we expecting to take place?

Take note that according to the Chinese way of calculation, the year of the earth rat starts on 4th February 2008 and continue to 3rd February 2009. So what ever prediction mentioned here is meant to cover this period of time.

Flying Stars Feng Shui

Flying Stars Feng Shui (“Xuan Kong”) is an amazing school of Feng Shui used only by advanced practitioners. It studies the effect of the nine celestial stars on us and our environment. These flying stars bring good energy – wealth, health, romance, success and overall good well being – or bad energy – sickness, finance woes, legal issues, gossip, and relationship problems.

These 9 clusters of celestial energy affect not only countries but every building on this planet. Naturally to leverage on the good energy, we use feng shui enhancers, and feng shui cures to dispel or dismiss the bad energy.

The 9 streams of energy are:
1 white star
2 illness black star
3 argumentative jade star
4 achievement green star
5 fearsome yellow star
6 heavenly white star
7 violent red star
8 auspicious wealth star
9 multiplying purple star.

You can easily guess which ones are the auspicious and inauspicious stars just from their names.

What makes Flying Stars Feng Shui so powerful and accurate is the additional factor brought into consideration during the calculation – time. The flying stars move with time. So naturally, positions of these 9 clusters of energy change with time.

The Flying Stars Feng Shui Predictions for 2008

Let’s begin with the North.

North
The 6 heavenly white star travels to the north and interacts with the 4 achievement green star (in the northeast) forming the perfect 10. Generally speaking, in 2008, there will be significant industrial advancement in the northern part of the world.

The only problem is the clash of element between this 6 heavenly white star (metal) and the 4 achievement green star (wood) from period 8 occupying the north. There may be numerous accidents in the north.

Don’t get confused over the 4 achievement green star for 2008 with that for period 8. The 4 achievement green star for period 8 is a dominant resident star in that direction from 2004 to 2024. Every 20 years the period flying stars switch location, just like what those annual flying stars do. However unlike the annual flying stars, the period flying stars assume different position only every 20 years. We are in period 8 now and the next time the period stars change place will be in 2025.

Northeast
The 4 achievement green star occupies this direction in 2008. It’s energy is not as strong as in 2007. Rightfully, this is an auspicious star but in 2008 it clashes with the 2 illness star from period 8, resulting in possible wide spread of health related issue in this area.

East
The 8 auspicious wealth star occupies this direction. This star boosts the energy of the 6 heavenly white star from period 8, and in turn curb the energy of the 3 argumentative star in the west.

Also as the name suggests, this is a wealth star and it’s presence in the east means countries like Korea, Japan and states like California and Washington could benefit for this wealth energy, and enjoy better economical performance.

Southeast
The 9 multiplying purple star moves to this direction and interact with 7 violent red star of period 8 in the Southeast.

Together with the inherent fire energy in the number 7 and 9, means that the forest fire in South East Asia may worsen again in 2008. As such, more people maybe affected by disease related to the respiratory system in these countries.

South
The 5 fearsome yellow star moves south. Its energy interacts with that of the 3 argumentative jade star from period 8 to create more havoc and unrest in the South and countries in South East Asia. Those traveling to these regions need to exercise more caution.

Chromo-therapy is a method of treatment of diseases by the use of color. For many people color simply is a matter of personal opinion and choice. However, the use of color as a treatment method is used as a supportive therapy along with other natural methods of preserving health in order to rid bodily malfunctions.

Practitioners of chromotherapy staunchly believe that the cause of any disease can be traced to the lack of a particular color in the human system. Thus the method of color therapy is the applied technique that is used to heal people.

The method of color therapy is founded on the principles of resonant colors interaction, adjoining to frequency characteristics of body. The use of colored light can be used directly on the body to stabilize health and increase resistance strength. Colored light affects the body and the emotions and does not alter the material composition of the body, but rather the vibration aspect which is similar to homeopathy. The treatment basically involves the application of colored light to the acupuncture points on the skin with an instrument that resembles a simple pen light. It does not use needles or pierce the skin. Rather the color sensitivity of acupuncture receptors on the skin is used to absorb the colored light. Then healing information which is encoded in the light is transferred to targeted cells and the brain where it is needed.

For homeowners, the knowledge of the healing powers of color for the body and mind should play a significant role in the choice of color scheme for the house. The action and effect of various colors on the body and their healing qualities are as follows:

Red is symbolic of heat, fire and anger and is a stimulating and energizing color. It is usually used in the treatment of diseases like low blood pressure, rheumatism, paralysis, anaemia and advanced cases of tuberculosis. The psychological effect is that while red has proven to be a color of vitality it has been shown to be associated with anger. Although this color can be useful in dispelling negative thoughts, it can also make one irritable. Pink has the opposite effect of red.

Orange is symbolic of prosperity and pride, orange is useful for stimulating blood supply and energizing the nerves. It is beneficial in the treatment of kidney and gallstones, hernia and appendicitis. It is also used to stimulate the milk producing action of breasts after childbirth. The psychological effect of orange is that it has positive affects on your emotional state. This color relieves feelings of self-pity, lack of self-worth and unwillingness to forgive. Orange opens your emotions and is a terrific antidepressant.

Yellow is associated with joy and happiness, yellow is laxative and diuretic. It is a stimulant to the brain, the liver and the spleen. Similar to orange, the psychological effect of yellow is that it is associated with intellectual thinking: discernment, memory, clear thinking, decision-making and good judgment. Also Yellow builds self-confidence and encourages optimism. However, a dull yellow can bring on feelings of fear.

Purple or indigo combines the blood-warming red and the cooling antiseptic blue. It is an excellent stimulant without being an irritant and exerts a soothing effect on the eyes, ears and the nervous system. Purple’s psychological effect is that it helps to balance the mind and transform obsessions and fears. Indigo is often associated with the right side of the brain; stimulating intuition and imagination. Violet is associated with bringing peace and combating shock and fear. Violet has a cleansing effect with emotional disturbances.

Green which consists of blue and yellow, is regarded as a color of harmony. It is a mild sedative. It is useful in the treatment of nervous conditions, hay fever, ulcers, influenza, malaria, colds, sexual disorders and cancer. It preserves and strengthens eyesight. Green psychologically creates feelings of comfort, laziness, relaxation, calmness. It helps us balance and soothe our emotions. These olive green colors remind us of decay and death and can actually have a detrimental effect on physical and emotional health. Always remember that sickened cartoon characters always turned green.

Blue is believed to alleviate pain, and reduce bleeding and heals burns. It is beneficial in the treatment of dysentery, colic, asthma, respiratory disorders, high blood pressure and skin aberrations. Psychologically this color is associated with the night and thus we feel relaxed and calmed. Lighter blues make us feel quite and away from the rush of the day. These colors can be useful in eliminating insomnia. Like yellow, blue inspires mental control, clarity and creativity. However, too much dark blue can be depressing.

1. Open all doors and windows for 15 minutes in the morning, for a complete change of energy in your home.

2. Walk through your home and tidy up as you walk. The more cleaning and de-cluttering you do, the greater the energy shifts.

3. When de-cluttering is too daunting a task, place a crystal ball in this area. Amazingly, over the next few days and weeks, that area will clean up, seemingly by itself. Well, it will probably use you as a tool. The crystal makes it easy to declutter. Of course, once that area is done, you can move your crystal onto the next area where major chi-shifting is needed.

4. Walk again through your home and pick up anything broken. Once collected, assess: a) Repairable? b) Replaceable? c) Do you need it? Act upon your verdict. For sure, replace cracked mirrors as they result in a flawed perception of yourself and your situation. Everything reflected in the mirror will be cracked either literally or symbolically.

5. For an easy abundance-fix: put 3 Chinese coins in the money corner of your home. (You can buy them here and get yourself an inexpensive feng shui cure)

6. Walk again through your home, now with the Bagua colors in mind. Stop at all the Bagua areas where you want improvement. Bring in more of the particular colors that enhance each specific Bague corner.

7. In complement with this, place Red Envelops for affirmations in all Bagua corners where you would like to see positive change. Write your affirmations as if the change is already happening.

8. For another easy fix: hang a wooden or bamboo wind chime to boost your popularity and bring in auspicious energy. A 5-cylinder chime to protect against bad luck, 6-8 Six cylinders for good luck.

9. Use indoor green plants to activate stagnant energy, particularly in corners.

10. To claim the energy of any missing corners in your home: put a sun/moon sign inside the room, at the missing corner’s side. For the same purpose, place mirrors on the wall to reclaim the missing corners.

11. For long hallways, hang a crystal halfway. Also, consider a lit statue or painting of a deity at the end of the hall.

12. Here’s a fun tip: to enhance your knowledge, place a cone shape hat in your self-knowledge area.

13. Note that the corners are stronger than the centers when placing cure objects. Adjust previously placed cures for enhanced effect.

14. If you happen to be looking for a new home, note that the North-side of the street is the stronger side of the street, and the South side the weaker side. So, pick one on the North side.

15. Last but not least: to improve your love life, work on your bedroom. Clean up and move things around. Remove things from under the bed and if possible store it elsewhere. Declutter. Make sure your images feature couples, not lone individuals. Balance the space next to the bed on the left and right. This promotes equality between partners. Add some rose quartz, and you’re done.
