I wrote about going ‘green’ the oh so simple way in one of my earlier We Are One World Healing articles: turn off the lights whenever you can.

Of course, there are 20+ more easy action steps: Take care not the waste energy: e.g. turn your car off while waiting. Take a plastic bag to the beach and clean up the garbage while there. Put some bags in the boot of your car, so next time you go grocery shopping, reuse your shopping bags…. etc. etc. etc.

Anyhow, I’m obviously not the only one with such insights. Tomorrow is ‘Earth Hour’. What was a Sydney Australia adventure is now becoming a global awakening, and you can join in.

Millions of people will turn off their lights and any unnecessary electricity devices to help curb global warming and climate change. Tomorrow evening, March 29, from 8-9 pm.

I love it.

Personally, I think that the TRUE VALUE of doing this is raising your awareness of your personal power, of being able to make a difference, one action at a time. I have found that by going ‘green’ in one area in our life, we feel encouraged and examine our behavior for greenness in other areas as well. I also have found that by making a personal stance for what I believe is the right thing to do has inspired and encouraged others. You too can be that inspiration to the people around you.

A second, powerful effect I believe of initiatives such as this and of ‘We Are One World Healing’ is that when we all participate is that our governmental leaders will learn that ‘we mean it’ when we say we want greener policies. Not because we’re ‘alternative’, but because we are ‘mainstream’.
